So far, 2026 has been largely cold and wet. And when the weather is miserable, it can be much more enticing to watch sports from the comfort of your home rather than brave the elements.

Thankfully, the coming months are stocked with competitive entertainment to keep you busy until warmer temperatures arrive.

From the Winter Paralympics to international table tennis and one of the world’s most famous racing festivals, read on to discover six sports competitions to keep you occupied in March, April, and May.

1. Paralympic Winter Games: 6 – 16 March

Following the exciting events of the Winter Olympics, the 14th iteration of the Winter Paralympics is set to take place in early March.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympic Games, first held in 1976 at Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, where 198 athletes competed in just two sports: para-alpine skiing and para cross-country skiing.

Fast forward to 2026, and the Winter Paralympics have expanded to include four more sports, with 665 athletes participating in 79 medal events.

If you’re keen to watch some frenetic para ice hockey or fearless para snowboarding set against the stunning backdrop of the Dolomites, then tune in to BBC One and iPlayer to catch a glimpse.

2. Cheltenham Festival: 10 – 13 March

If you’re a horse-racing enthusiast, you’ll already know that March brings the annual Cheltenham Festival.

Arguably one of the most famous and prestigious horse-racing events in the world, jockeys will be competing for glory in a variety of races, including the historic Cheltenham Gold Cup and its prize pot of £625,000.

Other featured races are the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase, Unibet Champion Hurdle, the Ryanair Chase, and the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle.

Confront the cold and watch the racing firsthand as one of the 65,000 average-day attendees, with prices starting from £54 for the Best Mate Enclosure. Otherwise, relax on your sofa and enjoy the festivities on ITV Racing.

3. The Masters: 9 – 12 April

Golfers can rejoice that the first major golfing tournament of the year is just around the corner.

The Masters takes place in mid-April, in keeping with its traditional role as the first major of the year. This fresh competition has been highly anticipated after nine months of patient waiting.

Played in Augusta, Georgia, the Masters has existed since 1934, launched by legendary amateur golfer Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. The competition takes place over four days and 72 holes.

You can catch titans of the game like Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Scottie Scheffler battling it out on Sky Sports.

4. ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championship: 28 April – 10 May

If you’re still riding the Marty Supreme ping-pong wave, you might be excited to know that the World Team Table Tennis Championships are taking place between April and May 2026.

A century after the first World Championships were held in London, the competition is returning to the UK capital, with 64 women’s and 64 men’s teams set to compete. The world title battle will be fought in the OVO Arena in Wembley and the Copper Box Arena.

The competition is team-based, yet matches are played individually. Whichever team wins the best-of-five singles matches takes the overall win and passes through to the next round.

As England is the host nation, they immediately qualify for stage two, where they’ll face other top-rated teams like China, Japan, and Germany.

You can watch the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championship on YouTube, where it is streamed for free on the ITTFWorld channel.

5. Emirates FA Cup Final: May 16

Moving into May, the final of the FA Cup tournament takes place at Wembley Stadium.

It’s the world’s oldest national football competition, now in its 153rd year, and one of the most-watched domestic football tournaments in the UK.

Last year, 5.9 million people tuned in to watch Crystal Palace beat Manchester City 1-0 and win their first major trophy.

There’s also plenty of FA Cup action to keep you entertained until the final, with the fifth-round proper, quarter finals, and semi-finals taking place throughout March and April.

You can tune in to all the FA Cup action on TNT Sports, discovery+, and BBC One.

6. IIHF World Championships (Ice Hockey): 15 – 31 May

If you enjoyed your dose of ice hockey during the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, you’ll be delighted to know that the Ice Hockey World Championships are set to take place later in May 2026.

The championships have a rich history that dates back to the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games, where the sport was first introduced onto the global stage.

Switzerland will host the 2026 IIHF World Championships, where 16 teams will be fighting for the number one spot. Team GB are drawn in Group A with current world champions the USA, so competition will be fierce.

You can watch Team GB’s games on FreeSports. All other games will be broadcast on the Olympics Channel.
